Today was BEAUTIFUL!!!   We’ve got a break in the storm system passing through, so we ventured outside to soak up some sun and fresh air.  I don’t know what it is about the popcorn clouds, but they make me happy.  Throw in orchards with blooming pink flowers and deep blue sky and I’m like a kid in a candy store.

After the visit to the orchards, we went over to Nana Cindy’s to blow some bubbles.  Another one of my favorite things are kids blowing bubbles.  Keep your eyes out for another post soon where Chloe’s blowing them straight at the camera!  What was challenging for me was the clouds were moving pretty quickly over the sun so I had to keep adjusting the levels in my camera to properly expose the pics.  Still, so much fun!

This one is fun for me… it’s hard to see the edges of the bubble and almost makes it look like a little tiny window to another world.  😉

I am very excited to announce a new addition to my photography services – a portable studio!!  With the help of the generous photogs over at The Image is Found who are cool enough to sell the specs to their “Crazybooth”, I’ve been blessed enough to be able to invest in my own!  This past Sunday I was able to set it up and get my friends and family to jump in to help me try it out.  We all had a blast!  This setup will enable me to offer an entirely new branch of services.  I can bring it to your parties, wedding receptions, holiday gatherings, studio portraits, basically ANY event that will accomodate a 12ft x 12ft space for me.  I will eventually be getting different backdrops too just to switch it up a bit.

If you’re interested in reserving a date for portraits with my new studio, drop me a line at 530-680-3399 or send me a message to

Chloe received a birthday invitation a month ago in the mail from a friend in Sacramento.  She was to come dressed as her favorite princess!  Immediately after reading the invitation, Chloe looks up at me and says “Mommy, I’m going to dress up as Snow White”.  She was sooooo excited to go and asked me everyday to count with her on the calendar how many days were left before we could go down and party with all the other princesses.  Unfortunately, the birthday girl got sick and had to postpone her special party.  Jeff and I decided to all dress up and go have a Princess Luncheon with the girls.  They had so much fun!  They attracted lots of attention and seemed to brighten up everyone’s day.  We’re going to do this each month with the girls and work on getting crowns for everyone next time!

For the past several months I’ve been wanting to expand on my lens collection to offer different looks to the portraits I take.  It was difficult for me to decide on which one I “needed” more,  and finally jumped on a sale price for a new 50mm 1.8 lens.  I’ve been excited to see the images that are created with this lens and have learned a lot!  I’m so used to being able to just zoom in and out to accomodate for my girls’ quick speeds.  With this lens, I’m zooming in and out with my body – running forward/backward to try and grasp that shot!  Needless to say, I’ve taken lots of landscape and still shots; although, I’m getting the hang of it!  Here are my favorites from the past few days.  I hope you like them!

A week or so ago Jeff’s Sister’s family adopted a new member into their family.  Everyone, meet Vinnie!  I don’t know his exact mix of breed, but he’s just way too cute!  I love this little guy!  He poses very well for the camera too!

This year we got to spend and extra amount of time with everyone and with that, came a lot of pictures! It was very hard to decide which ones were my favorite, so I created these blog layouts to help keep the size down a smidge. 🙂 God has blessed us so much this year, and Christmas was no exception…lots of family time and some great gifts for the girls! We had a blast and are STILL hearing about it from Chloe!
This first set is from Christmas Eve at my Grandma Joan and Papa Harold’s home in Rocklin. Chloe & Sam’s cousin Creighton was able to keep up with them a lot better this year, and we were blessed to welcome Gabriel to the Needham clan. 🙂 Just recently, our family welcomed another little baby to the world, making Grandma Joan & Papa Harold Great Grandparents for 5 amazing children!
This was so funny – Samantha was totally expecting Uncle Ryan to feed her the yummy whip cream and was MORTIFIED to get it wiped on her nose! It started a little battle between them, and was super cute to watch. 🙂

These were from a day when we went over to Auntie Em’s house to make gingerbread houses! Chloe took the decorating VERY seriously, but Samantha was more interested in finding out how much she could eat! Emily out-did herself again and won the prize for most creative and coolest house on the block.

Christmas Morning!!!! Chloe was SOOOO excited to see all the presents under the tree from the top of the stairs. What was most fun for me was seeing Chloe discover that Santa had arrived and eaten the cupcake left out for him to eat. He even left a little thank you note for her. 🙂 It was really sweet how she asked each person to read the note aloud to her as they woke up and walked into the kitchen.

Chloe & Samantha each got a pair of cowboy boots for Christmas..Samantha loved them so much that after I changed a diaper she took off with them and went straight to the playroom to hide out from me. It lasted a little while, until she found some fancy heels in her new dress-up toy chest. She promptly kicked off those boots and started prancing around in the heels. 🙂

Last week I had the honor to snap some fun pics of this great family here in Chico. It had been raining all morning, so I was a bit nervous that we’d have to postpone the session. Luckily we got a break in the clouds for about an hour and were able to capture some great moments! Here are a few of my favorites…

I was asked by a friend to come back to Sacramento to visit and snap some fall family portraits. You may remember their youngest from earlier this year – she’s 8 months old already!! It was great catching up and getting some fun shots of this family. Visiting with them made me really homesick on the way back up to Chico. Thanks Lomonaco family for having me come back down to see you, even if it was a bribe! 😉 I hope you enjoy your pics!

There’s this bridge on the way to the house that captures my imagination every time I drive over it. From it, you can see the sunrise and sunset, large open fields, the creek, blah blah blah! I could go on and on about how much I love this spot! Last week I was determined to get my butt out of bead and try my hand at capturing some pictures of the sunrise. It was soooo hard to drag myself outside, especially with the frigid air and no coffee! Other than the freezing cold, it was perfect – zero wind/breeze to mess up the reflective surface of the dry creek. Each moment seemed to show a different scene. I’m so happy I did it, and am excited to finally share some of my favorites. I hope you enjoy!!

I have never seen hot pink sun rays before – it was AMAZING (and much brighter in person)!!!!
